Long Service Medal & Clasp
The Alberta Municipal Enforcement Long Service Medal was established by the Alberta Municipal Enforcement Association (AMEA), in cooperation with Alberta Municipal Affairs, to recognize dedicated service by sworn Municipal Enforcement Officers in Alberta.
The Medal is awarded to officers who have completed a minimum of twelve (12) years of eligible Municipal Enforcement Officer service.
Additional Clasps are awarded at twenty (20) years of service and for each subsequent five (5) year period thereafter.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, an applicant must:

Be or have been a sworn, operational Municipal Enforcement Officer in Alberta

Have completed a minimum of twelve (12) years of eligible service

Be or have been in good standing
Where service has not been continuous or has been completed with more than one authorized employer, each period of service must be calculated to the nearest month.
Total eligible service must equal or exceed:

144 months – Award of the Medal

96 additional months – First Clasp (20 years total service)

60 additional months – Each subsequent Clasp
Up to a maximum of five (5) years (60 months) of eligible federal, provincial, or municipal enforcement service in Alberta that does not meet the definition of Municipal Enforcement Officer service may be credited toward eligibility, in accordance with AMEA policy.
Nomination Process
Eligible officers currently serving, retired, or resigned from Municipal Enforcement Officer duties in Alberta may be nominated.
Nominations must be submitted by:

An official of an authorized employer of Municipal Enforcement Officers

A local government authority

The executive of a recognized association representing Municipal Enforcement Officers
All nominations are subject to verification and approval by the Alberta Municipal Enforcement Association.
Recipients are recognized at the annual provincial conference.
